Socket setting pliers are an essential tool when it comes to maintaining and sharpening clipper blades. With their ergonomic design and precision, these specialized pliers allow for efficient socket setting. The process involves securing the blade into the pliers and carefully bending the blade tabs to ensure a secure fit within the clipper. By using socket setting pliers, one can easily adjust and align the blade teeth, optimizing the cutting performance and overall longevity of the clipper blades. This handy tool not only simplifies the maintenance process but also enhances the cutting experience, making it a must-have for professionals and enthusiasts alike.
Well that was alot better then I expected so before Skynet comes along lets look at how to bodge a set together
I am sure that most of you have a scabby old set of wire strippers hanging around which you never use. Or in my case I had 2 sets. So lets sacrifice a set to the god of sharpening.
I am going to use mostly tools that you’ll have in a standard sharpeners kit
First up is draw a line across the ends of the soon to be slightly shorter wire strippers. A straight line at about 90º to the centerline of the pliers
Then using a angle grinder cut the ends off the pliers. The you can clean up the ends using a belt grinder
After a wee bit of grinding and adjusting this is the finished tool
