Euro stacking as drawers

I have been using some Euro stacking crates as drawers and some have asked how I do this.

First of all I buy them from HERE

They are decent prices and good delivery

You can see the plastic crate sitting down on the angle iron i weld in.

These are 15mm which are strong enough and easy enough to get. Note the way they are sitting. You can put them the other way up but this is easier to weld.

There is also a wee gap on either side to allow for warpage and measurement boo boos

This is the bottom of a box and you can see the lip which is used for stacking. You want the drawer runner to be on this face.

Once you have worked out your rough stacking weld in your bottom runners first at LEAST 10mm above the bottom. I use a piece of plywood under the runners to space them up.

Then for the next drawer. Put the drawer in the runners and then stack plywood or something onto to the drawer and then sit your runners for the next drawer on this stack and then weld it in.

With boxes which are specced to be 300mm wide the uprights end up being 306mm apart

But the crates are just under 300 so don’t make anything until you actually get them in your sweaty hands
